This is an email I sent to Blair in May '06. It was in response to him saying he was going to bring us back to basics, unfortunately he never replied, but I found it in an email clear out and thought that it would be good to share!
To Mr. T. Blair.
I am concerned at where you have lead our country. Foxes, step children's relationships, homosexual age of consent, parents choice of how to discipline their own children, Asbos..I could go on..
I am sure you already have some smart two step way of getting out of every situation that you have lead our country into, & I will refrain from mentioning Iraq, but I am afraid that England might never be the country that it ever once was.
I have to say that I now look upon England not as my home land nor as an Island but a migration centre. This is not because I am prejudiced or racist but because I feel that we as British subjects have been made to compromise our heritage and traditions to the point that Christmas is no longer P.C & that flying our Union Jack or even advertising our religious celebrations/events is no longer allowed.
I happen to have no true belief in any one religion & have a healthy respect for aspects of all religions, but I fail to see how taking all that we believed & had traditional pride & place in our hearts makes for a prejudice & racist free country.
I thought that you & our cabinet were to take us back to basics..which was to first & foremost allowed to have pride in our country..After all, if I travel to Rome I would do as the Romans do out of respect for their countries beliefs...so why have you left England so belittled & have been so disrespectful of our traditions.
Why have we compromised all that is dear to our hearts in the wake of an overwhelming tide of Political Correctness & do you not think that it is about time that you as Prime minister of our country such as it is.. stand up & for once in your whole career & make it clear cut to one & all just what we are allowed to do if we are British & once were proud?
This is not a personal attack but I feel that if I do not make myself heard then I will regret it for the rest of my life.
Your Sincerely very confused & disillusioned,
